The Benefits of Adding a Cabin Air Filter Inventory

May 17, 2017 / in Cabin Air Filters, Filters
Adding an inventory of easy-to-replace parts, such as the cabin air filter, increases your bottom line when you are able to provide a service for a customer in a timely fashion. If you have to order a cabin filter from a local dealer, those extra minutes it takes to get to your shop could cost a sale. Instead, have cabin air filters available for the year, makes and models that take a few minutes to replace.

Types of Cabin Air Filters

Currently, two types of filters are available: filters with charcoal impregnated media and those with electrostatic medium. They both work equally well; however, the filter with charcoal impregnated media neutralizes odors in addition to particles that degrade air quality. The engineers at ECOGARD recommend that you replace the filter with the type that the manufacturer installed in the vehicle, though you may switch types if an alternate type that fits is available.

Replacing the Cabin Air Filter

In most cases, replacing the cabin filter is a routine job for a professional service technician. ECOGARD provides great resources to assist technicians in the shop – in the e-Catalog, in the form of a technician’s poster, as well as a helpful printed technician’s guide.  All of these unique resources provide the three most important things you need to know about this job:
  • The location of a vehicle’s cabin air filter;
  • The time it takes to replace the filter; and
  • Whether tools are needed to get the job done right

The engineers at ECOGARD have replaced cabin air filters in all types of vehicles; thus, they know how long it takes, and whether you need tools for the job. In many cases, the only tools you need are your hands. Each ECOGARD filter comes with instructions, so if you’ve never done a cabin filter on a particular model, you won’t have to take the time to look it up.

ECOGARD’s 2017-2018 Cabin Air Filter Technician’s Guide tells the installer how long a cabin air filter replacement will take on any vehicle.

If you’re a quick lube shop, you’ll want to stock only cabin filters that are replaceable in a few minutes. When you choose inventory from ECOGARD, choose only the cabin air filters for the most popular vehicles that pass through your doors, and those that take less than 15 to 20 minutes to replace.

If you are an automotive repair shop, stocking filters for the most popular vehicles that pass through the door is even easier. You don’t have to worry as to whether replacing the filter is quick and easy or takes 45 minutes, since your customers don’t expect their vehicles to be ready in less than an hour. If you have a filter that is more difficult to replace, you may also up-sell by adding in other parts that may have to be removed while replacing the cabin air filter. For example, you might be able to sell a pair of new wiper blades to the owner of a Ford since some older models require that you remove the wiper blades to get to the cabin air filter.
